Share the mental load, in plain sight.
Plans, shopping and to-dos in one place, so nobody has to be the one who remembers.

To share the mental load, make the invisible work visible: put every task, errand and date in a place both partners see. Okto is a free iPhone and Android app where household tasks have an owner and a due date, the grocery list and calendar are shared, and an Assigned to me view shows each person what is theirs.
Instead of
- "Why didn't you remember?"
- one person's head as the system
- asking for updates on the dentist
- a chore list taped to the fridge
Everything visible, owned and dated.
Every task has an owner and a date
Write the task down once, say who has it and when it is due. It moves out of someone's head and onto a list both of you can read. The Assigned to me view shows what is yours, without asking.
- Assign a task to yourself or to your partner
- Due date and time on each one
- Today, Scheduled, All and Assigned to me
- Repeating to-dos for weekly and monthly chores with Okto Plus
- Your own lists: home projects, gifts, a weekend away

One screen for what is due today
Open Okto and Home shows today's to-dos, the groceries to buy and the next event. It is a shared status board, so the question "what still needs doing" has a quick answer for both of you.
- To-dos due today, and whose they are
- Groceries still to buy
- The next event on the calendar
- The same screen on both phones

Plans both of you can see
Appointments, birthdays and visits sit on a shared calendar, so neither of you is the household's secretary. Anyone can add an event with the place and the people going.
- Month view with every plan
- Filter to your own plans or your partner's
- Reminders and repeats on events
- Two-way sync with your phone's calendars with Okto Plus

Money tracked, not remembered
Tracking who paid for what is part of the load too. Log the expense, pick how it splits, and the balance is there when you need it.
- Paid-by and shares on every expense
- Equal, by amounts or by percentages
- A balance you both see

Your iPhone, their Android. Same household.
- Live on both phones
- Add milk on one phone, it shows on the other a second later.
- Works offline
- The list is on your phone, even in a store with no signal.
- No ads, ever
- Okto is paid for by Okto Plus, not by your data.
- Private by design
- Only the two of you see your household. Data hosted in the EU.
Free for the two of you. Plus when you want more.

Questions, answered
What is the mental load in a household?
It is the work of noticing, remembering and organizing what a household needs, such as booking appointments, knowing the milk is out or tracking a bill. The tasks may be shared while the remembering stays with one person.
How can an app help share the mental load?
An app cannot decide how you divide things, but it can make the work visible. In Okto, tasks have an owner and a due date, and the calendar, groceries and bills are shared, so both partners see the same picture.
Can I assign household tasks to my partner?
Yes. Any reminder can be assigned to either of you and given a due date and time. An Assigned to me view shows each person their own list.
Can recurring chores repeat on their own?
Yes, with Okto Plus: to-dos can repeat daily, weekly, monthly or yearly, so water the plants every week only has to be written once.
Will both of us see the same lists?
Yes. The calendar, grocery list, reminders and expenses are shared by the household and update on both phones, iPhone or Android.
How much does Okto cost?
Okto is free. Okto Plus costs $4.99 a month or $34.99 a year for the whole household, with a 14-day free trial.
