Terms of use
By creating an account or using Okto, you accept these terms. They are short on purpose.
The service
Okto is an iPhone and Android app, published by [TO COMPLETE: publisher name, postal address], that brings a household's groceries, calendar, shared expenses into one place. It is a management tool: it is not a bank, a payment service, or financial or legal advice. The balances shown are a calculation from what the Members entered; Okto never moves money.
Your account
- You are at least 16 years old.
- You sign in with an e-mail address you control, or with Apple or Google. You keep your access to yourself.
- The information you give (such as your first name) is accurate and does not pass you off as someone else.
- You can delete your account at any time, in the app or on the deletion page.
Households
- For now a Household gathers two people who invited each other. Every Member sees and can edit the Household's content; the Admin manages the Members and can delete the Household.
- You share an Invite Link or code only with people you want in your Household.
- What you enter in a Household stays visible to its Members, including after you leave (see the privacy policy).
What you agree to do
- Use Okto within the law, with no unlawful content and no harm to others' rights.
- Not try to bypass security, overload the service, reach data that is not yours, or copy or resell it.
- Not use the service in an automated way outside the app.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules or endangers the service, telling you when we can.
Price
Okto has no ads. During the testing phase, the app is free. A paid offer, as a subscription that covers the whole Household, will follow: its prices and what it includes will be shown in the app before any payment, and nothing will be charged without your explicit consent in the App Store or Google Play.
Availability
We do our best to keep the service running, but it can be interrupted for maintenance or an outage, and it changes over time. The app keeps a local copy of your Household and works offline; what you enter offline syncs when the network returns.
Ownership
What you enter stays yours and your Household's: you only allow us to store and show it to run Okto. The app, its name, logo and mascot belong to the publisher.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, the publisher is not liable for indirect damage, nor for the loss of entered data that is not due to its fault. Nothing in these terms limits the rights the law gives you as a consumer, nor the publisher's liability for gross negligence or wilful misconduct.
Changes
We may change these terms. If the change is significant, we tell you in the app before it takes effect; continuing to use Okto afterwards means you accept it, and you can always delete your account.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the following law: [TO COMPLETE: country whose law applies, for example France] If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live and the right to go to the courts of that country.
